Most folks smile when they think about their favourite day at the beach. Why? Why does the beach make us so happy? Why do we sit at our desks and sometimes find ourselves longing for a nice sunny day filled with sand between our toes and the sounds of waves and seagulls? As it turns out, going to beach restaurants in Singapore is actually good for us! Seems our bodies already instinctively know this and that may be the very reason we feel that internal longing for sun, sand, and surf.
That is why when we have had our annual gathering, I strongly suggested to our union that we hold the event at a Sentosa beach bar. The island of Sentosa is manmade and houses some of the most incredible hotels in Singapore, maybe not every local would say this but I love Singapore.
Needless to say our small gathering of an event was held by the Siloso beach, we partnered with this amazing beach bar and spent most of that time enjoying the facilities their resort had to offer. I feel light and terribly happy, when splashing out on a resort it’s better to enjoy the benefits of everything onsite. Coastes did not disappoint, they have a perfectly blended luxury and family friendliness. There was plenty for the kids and adults, not to mention great food!
For our kids
The site of Coastes was quite expansive. Luckily they have all the bases covered with kid stuff at the ready. The ride across was a lot of fun itself for our nearly four year old. Zipping up little hills and through beautiful gardens, we arrived at the kids club. It’s an indoor play area that is fully air conditioned and has plenty for a variety of ages.
I brought my baby along with me and although lots of my colleagues questioned me, I didn't fret. Ten months old had lots of age appropriate things to play with and our daughter got great use out of the rock climbing frames, video games, tool sets and so on. Kids are welcome to stay without parents if they are over 4 years old. There is a staff member to supervise. They have some incredible treatments, but my favourite was the swimming pool, complete with a waterfall! It was so pretty but worth noting it’s an adult only area.
For us the adults
Most of the expansive area they have is the lush green gardens and then of course the beach. There are so many trees, beautiful plants and flowers to admire. We loved the many resident peacocks that hang out in gardens, or around the hotel. They have quite a unique sound that can be heard from miles away! Mixed in with all of the other birds, the chirping sounds reminded me of the days when I was a child too. I have such fond memories of walking by the beach when Esmé was a little baby, so it was a nice reminder and so relaxing, a total tropical paradise.
Amazingly, the private event restaurant has direct access to a nice part of the beach. There is a set of steps very close to the main swimming pool that winds down for five minutes and opens up onto the beach. It’s the perfect place for little ones to play in the sand, making castles. My kids could spend hours on the beach, it’s their favourite place to be.
It seems there are many different accommodation options, from villas in the gardens to luxurious rooms nearby, and the suite we have choses was perfect for us. We had direct access to the gardens with a little patio area and found it so cute when the peacocks would come and peer in the window at us. The kids were fascinated with them. We had a super-size bed and a cot for the little one. The bed was so comfortable! After working for many years we recognise good and comfortable night sleep after an amazing party is the best feeling there is.
The food was heaven
So as you can imagine the Sentosa corporate events' food options are endless. Breakfast is served in the restaurant every morning. Breakfast is definitely one of my favourite parts of any overnight event stay. It takes a lot to impress me and even more to rank in my top three favourites. The breakfast was immense and it wasn’t just your typical fruits, pastries and cooked breakfast. It had so much more, where do I start? The waffles stand, the entire Asian section, the tens of freshly pressed juices, the gluten free station. Being vegetarian, borderline vegan, I was delighted with the options. More often than not, I have black coffee and fruit. That was not the case in this private event restaurant in Singapore!
